Deepak Chopra's book, Life After Death - The Burden of Proof was released in 2006. The author was in Hawaii recently and he was kind enough to autograph a copy for me.
The book deals philosophically with the event of death, not as an ending, but as a door to the next part of life. That's comforting.
Chopra is a widely read doctor/spiritualist from New Delhi India. Although more of a celebrity than a healer, his work is read and enjoyed my millions of people the world over.
The Burden is a look at life and life-after this spinning-world real that we often accept as one-dimensional. Using parables he learned as a boy, Chopra tells the story of Savitri, his female hero, who must defeat Yama, the Lord of Death.
However, he harkens back to the teachings of Jesus [that] conception heaven is present. On the other hand, Chopra draws more water from the well and sprinkles it about the book with an insistence that there is abundant evidence that the world beyond is really the world we can touch, a world of our future. No death, just a metamorphosis.
As always, Chopra's style is part teacher, part guide, and the pages flow effortlessly with ideas he presents as an offering. Unfortunately, reading this book will probably leave you with more questions than answers.
On the other hand, maybe that's always the best result of reading!
